So I know that I don't post alot but I have been focusing a little too much on my YouTube channel at the moement. It's a little easier for me to film because getting great stills of things together is kinda hard! I will, however, try to post everytime I upload a video. SO! It's coming up to payday and I'm looking for some shadows to pack out my make-up collection because currently I only have like 3...? I only count 1 because the rest of them I just don't like. I've heard from heyyy_June on YouTube that MUA (a brand I previously turned my nose up at) has amazing pigmentation and has some great dupes of Urban Decay products that I would DIE for! Below I'm going to post the products that I want to pick up next week and then I'm sure I'll film a video on them but I'll try to upload some swatches on my skintone and a review. I have so much to review but I will get round to it I promise :D PalettesThis is 'Heaven and Earth', which is raved about online and is similar to the palette that I have from Primark. This is 'Undressed' and this is a dupe for the 'NAKED 1' palette from Urban Decay and it's pretty much true shade and the colour payoff is fantastic! TriosThis is 'Pink Sorbet' and I want this one because I need to ease myself into the righter colours and pink seems the way to go. This is 'Innocence' and the darkest shade on the right is a dupe for MAC's 'Club' and there is also a single that I want to get that is similar as well. QUADThere are a couple of quads on the site but I only really liked this one and this is 'Go Getter'. I'm really excited to create a look with this! SinglesIt's easy to admit that I'm a much bigger fan of palettes as I am of singles just because they are created for easy colour matches and blending possibilities. However, I am addicted to this colour! I love the earthy undertones with the petrol green sheen... it's beautiful!
So thats essentially my wish list from MUA and I will pop pics and swatches when I pick them all up :D Hx Happy April everyone! I really enjoyed April Fools Day because there was lots of hilarious stuff online, especially on ThinkGeek, where they uploaded joke products like the selfie rig :D Make me giggle on my lunch break! I have already had such a productive month and it's only the 3rd! Okay, so today will be less productive because its a bank holiday so nothing is open or functioning. I'm going to see my boyfriend in town before he starts work becuse he's been staying away at home for a week (can't wait for tomorrow evening when he's back home to our nest!) so we're going for coffee and a hug this morning. I'm cramming this in before I have to get the bus at 8:45 but I just thought I should post a little and tell you what I've been up to cause it's rather excting. Apart from buying a LOT of stuff from town yesterday and then a couple of beauty bits from Urban Outfitters and eBay, I've launched a YouTube channel which will be dedicated to fashion hauls, make-up looks and product reviews. I've already posted a couple videos up and I want to do some OOTD looks as well but it's hard when you live with another person because I get embarrassed (even though he knows I do videos) and also I don't want to invade his space. I'm going to be, like this blog, uploading videos on my days off because I can't be cramming them in after work etc but I will try to film in bulk so I can get get them out there :D No subscribers as yet but I've only been online for 12 hours haha! I also filmed a haul yesterday in which I showed off all the hair care stuff and dye I bought from Boots, the makeup I got from Superdrug, the clothes I got from Warehouse and the makeup/ clothes/ accessories I got from Primark but I'll post a separate blog to go through these products.
I essentially want to run this YouTube account alongside this blog which should be a lot of work HOWEVER like I said before, I haven't given myself deadlines for uploading content because I don't want to pressurise myself because it takes away my motivation. ANYWAY! I have to go get ready because my fringe looks crazy :D but I'll speak to you again soon. Hx Maybe that is too little too late as March is drawing to a swift close already but let me explain why it's been so long since I last submitted a post. It's been quite a hectic month (to be honest with you, february wasn't quite stress free either!) what with work, many a birthday and last, but by no means least, I went in for surgery. Now this blog isn't one I've given myself regular deadlines for, but I wanted to at least post twice a month so that you had regular content to leaf through and I thought that would take some of the pressure off me to write. That being said, as mentioned before I have been super busy! We had a mammouth visit at work and I've been preparing a lot for that and my work, although many of you might think otherwise, is seriously time consuming and when I get home from my shift, I don't always feel like writing. So theres that and then theres almost all my families birthdays too. The other, rather major, reason that I haven't been that active online or on this blog is that I had a bilateral breast reduction, courtesy of the NHS, a week ago. Okay, so that doesn't excuse missing a whole month of prospective blog but I was a little preoccupied with being scared out of my mind. Needless to say, the surgery was a success and after struggling with the side effects of 5 different pain medications and a two days and a night in hospital, I'm finally feeling normal again. Today was the first time in a week I was able to go outside and take a walk in the park and it was the best feeling! So I'm not one for being shy about my body and as much as I would like to bare my new self to the world, I'm going to keep this blog nudity free (excluding ofc tasteful, artistic nudes if the need ever arises). Instead I will just talk a little about the surgery as it's something a lot of my friends, family and followers on social media were interested to know about. My breasts weighed about a kg each, which is about a bag of sugar per boob. Now thats quite a lot for someone who is a size 8 and thats part of the reason why I was granted funding for the surgery on the NHS. If it wasn't for that funding the surgery would have cost me £5,856... which is a LOT of money for someone who earns as little as I do. The surgery itself was a little under 3 hours long and I was put under general anaesthetic for the operation. The experience of the anaesthetic was as if I'd been asleep for 30 seconds and afterwards I felt almost normal, with minimal, if not, no pain. They removed between 180-200 grams of fat/ tissue from each breast and gave them a lift too so that my back could better handle the weight of my new boobs. That is something I have always struggled with so having no back pain is something I'm looking forward to greatly! Ok! So now that all that gorey stuff is over with, I'd like to take a moment to tell you about some of the purchases I've made and ones I am looking forward to come payday! So, in light of how I would be housebound and practically bedridden for a couple of weeks, I decided to make a purchase which I have been putting off for a while because I've never had as much money as I have had now. I bought an iPad Mini First Gen and got an amazing discount thanks to my boyfriend who happens to workin the store I purchased it from :3 I couldn't be happier with it and even full price it's an amazing deal! I've been watching a lot of Netflix on this baby and RRP £199 from Argos is pretty amazing! It's updated to the latest OSX 8.2 so is running like a dream and I also bought a beautiful leather case for it too so that it's protected when I take it out and about. The size is perfect too to fit into my handbag but the screen is not so small that it ruins videos for me. As mentioned in the beginning of this blog, I had a huge visit from some important peeps at work recently and thought I should do the workplace proud and wear something from the new collection but also pull myself kicking and screaming out of my comfort zone and wear some colour. And what better way to welcome the new season that a bright orange utility dress (yes, it is orange not red like my resolution seems to think it is). Rolling in at a RRP of £32, this dress comes up big so I managed to squeeze my body into a UK6 in this style when I usually rock an 8/ 10 (depending on the style). I paired this dress with black knee high socks from Topshop, RRP £7 and my new black platform sandals from Primark, RRP £14, which I will picture below. I did say that I was going to post a bit on things I'm looking forward to come payday but I think I'll leave that to another post, so for now, BYYEEE!
Hati x I've always loved my eyebrows. As a baby, the first thing I did was wiggle them at my dad and have since never been without brow expression. I'm proud to have large, bushy brows and love them au natural as well as filled in with a brow pencil at work or when I'm out and about. However, I've always been a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to beauty products but since I'm earning real money these days and have an appreciation for what quality products actually cost, I've been debating kitting myself out in the beauty department recently. For a while I've been using whatever I could find, at the lowest price and I've had a long and torrid affair with terrible brow pencils that leave my brows heavy, clumpy and smudged. Most recently I bought one from Primark of all places as I was buying some false nails and some hair ties. What a mistake. I could actually FEEL my brows and by the end of the day my forehead was smeared with the stuff... not to mention the breakouts I was having because of this. So yesterday I thought, enough is enough, and got myself downstairs to the Benefit counter at work and begged the girls to help me out, as per a recommendation from my dear friend who is the queen of brows. The girl at the counter sat me down and agreed that I was indeed slathering it on and that the pencil itself was causing more harm than good. So she cleaned me up, had a joke with me and offered me the product I had been searching for (as per another recommendation from QoB). 'Brow-zing' it's called, in typical Benefit punny fashion, and it is £24.50. It is not a new product but it is, the girl assured me, one of the best for effortless and powder light feeling brows. As I do like a dark brow, she offered me the darkest hue and got to work applying first the wax-creme base to line out the shape and then topping it off with the tinted setting powder to fill in and set the wax in place. I felt, quite literally, that a weight had been lifted and handed over my hard earned cash, gleefully walking from the counter after a brief farewell with a couple of free samples of 'They're Real' liner and 'They're Real' remover. So needless to say I am a happy bunny! I also bought this beautiful bag from Warehouse (RRP £24) which fullfills all my bag needs with two zip puches that can fit my huge wallet and filofax and also has a clip front pocket which is great for my train cards and my lipbalm. It's so pretty. So thats my two pence on the matter. I've recorded a video just to review and trial the product again for you guys but iMovie is proving problematic this evening so I'll post that when I have worked out whats wrong.
Hati x I was going to post these up tomorrow but as I have the time today between going for a coffee with my partner at our favourite deli and baking a banana loaf, I thought I would just post them today. Two posts in one day?... *gasp* Okay, so the pictures aren't great as my camera is broken and my partner isn't so au fait with iPhones or indeed cameras but I'm not going to be precious about the quality. What I wanted, escentially, was to capture what I have bought and styled from Warehouse this week. My first outfit, which I wore yesterday for the first time, was the Tie Waist Crepe Jogger (RRP £30) and High Neck Compact Yarn Jumper (RRP £35). This outfit is essentially what I look for in all my outfits, which is comfort first and foremost and chic-ness. What I most love about the jumper is the high neck which is ribbed, much like the sleeves and indeed all my knitwear. The difference between this and other jumpers is the fine material which is a woven viscose/ polyamide mix that has a slight lustre to it. I love the way it fits me and the way it feels on my skin. The joggers are of a similar, silky and crepe material, with tapered, turn-up ankles and a drawstring waistband. I wear them a fraction above my hips but they would look good worn at the waist as well if you were so inclined. Again, they have a slight lustre to them and I'm in love with how they feel around my legs. They are super comfortable but also look professional and chic in the workplace and could be dressed up even more with a metallic top for a night out or even a dinner party. I paired this outfit with my favourite thick strapped, treaded, chunky sandal heels and shocks for the colder weather. One of my co-workers asked why the socks and as ever I replied, "because it's super chic". Chic being a word I use at least, 100 times a day. Look two was a little more of a snap decision as I was adamant that I was going to own this High Neck Side Split Jumper (RRP £35) but what I was pairing it with was a little too casual for work. I had to find something to go with it so I decide on the Super Soft Black Skinny Jeans (RRP £38). Not only was this, as it turned out, a pairing that the Warehouse site stylists had settled on, but it was perfect as I have, to this day, never owned a pair of black skinny jeans. I paired this outfit with my sheer black button up shirt from Primark and my 100% leather pony hair leopard print strappy sandals from New Look. The jumper itself is a very fine knit which is perfect on it's own of worn with a thin layer underneath in the colder months. It's high neck is also ribbed like the sleeves and is a very flattering length. As a relatively tall girl, I always appreciate when the sleeves reach my wrists and have occasion in this season, to pull them over my hands when it gets a little nippy. The colour (khaki/ olive) is a key trend this season as well which is a plus as I love it and it suits me well, being that I mostly wear black or grey. The jeans are a perfect fit and true to size and the regular length is great for those of us with longer legs. The material is soft and comfortable and much closer to a jegging than a jean, which is, for me, a lot better when you're on the go 39 hours a week. As mentioned previously, I'm a self-proclaimed goth and as such, I never go in for anything bright or printed but with this new job and blog going I've felt a little more inclined to jump out of my comfort zone and into the of the moment nautical trend. I have always been a bit of a 'Frenaboo' (someone who wants to be French/ has an obsession with all this France) and as such have a love of french street style and fashion, so this Stripe Swing Dress (RRP £26) was a no-brainer for me. The material is beautiful and has a nice weight to it which is important for the drape but also so that it will swing properly when moving. The length is perfect for me and feels great against my skin and I've paired it again with my sandals from Primark and some rolled down black socks as well as a metal collar necklace which is old stock from Warehouse. More than anything, I think that this outfit compliments my 20's Amelie inspired bob. Ooh La La. This last outfit is a casual take on an outfit that I usually go to for my everyday. I love texture and mixing it into my outfits and as a trend, this has been fairly on going for a while. I love leather and PU alternatives and seeing the coloured PU trend come in with the 70s themed looks that are coming into the market was a happy moment for me to say the least.
I think a V-neck is such a flattering neckline on me so this V-Neck Drop Sleeve Top (RRP £18) was a must have to pair with this Faux Leather Pencil Skirt (RRP £42). The skirt is back on trend and has a luxurious seude styled backing which is perfect with bare legs as it prevents it from sticking to your skin in the hotter months. It's a deep blue/ purple colour which is perfect to compliment this light grey top but also the olive colours in this season. So those were my outfits and I'm satisfied in saying that these will last me the next two months until I have to get new styles for my wardrobe. I think all of the garments you've seen here can be interchanged to create new pairings which is great if you're easily bored by an outfit like myself. I have to give Warehouse a 10/10 on their choice of colours, cuts and materials and I am really looking forward to the next collection of goodies that they have in store for us. Hati x You may not know this, but I watch YouTube everyday and when I have a spare moment I like to upload my own to the Tube because free-flow talking is one of my strong point. Most of the time I watch games playthroughs by the Yogscast, a Bristol based games review company a stones throw away from my work but I also indulge in a little Buzzfeed Video (hilarious and poinient content providers), Olan Rogers (storyteller and entrepaneur), Clothesencounters (american based fashion blogger, Jenn) and a myriad of fashion channels dedicated to styling and catwalk shows. So this morning, as it's my day off, I've slept in, had my toast and tea and settled myself at my desk to watch through new content on my Subscriptions page. After watching a few shows from London Fashion Week (of which I will talk in my next post) I landed on one of my favourite channels, MyHarto, birthplace of My Drunk Kitchen and platform of YouTube star, Hannah Hart. Hannah started from meager beginnings, publishing a video in which she drinks copious amounts of alcohol and attempts a cooking show style approach to preparing a dish. This video, origonally intended for a friend of hers, went viral, as it were, and she now has over 300k subscribers. Her content is mostly whimsical, showcasing her origonal cooking show but also is a host to many other bloggers, YouTubers and famous faces. She also publishes hard-hitting content about her struggles in coming out to her family and friends as well as items on sex and mental health. Todays watch was a little more on the whimsical side as she attempted one of just a string of YouTube challenges, The Whisper Challenge. The Whisper Challenge is essencially visual chinese whispers which involves two participents, one of whom is wearing headphones to block out any noise whilst the other attempts to mouth a phrase for the other to guess. In this video, Hannah invited the band, Misterwives, to join her in the challenge and hilarity ensued. Not only did I laugh until I had a dangerously violent coughing fit, but I also discovered a band that previously wouldn't have had the opportunity to listen to. I have since downloaded the album and love it already. The vocals are haunting but with the addition of instrumentals on saxophone, trumpet and accordion make this one to listen to.
Their album is out now for $7.99 but as with iTunes you can download individual tracks too! Check them out at http://smarturl.it/MWivesOurOwnHouse and Hannah at https://www.youtube.com/user/MyHarto Not only do I hope you check out this awesome album, but I hope that I've brought you some much deserved lols on this overcast February morning! I will be taking pictures today (when I decide it's okay to leave my dressing gown) of the items I picked up at Warehouse so those should be up soon as well as a little something about LFW. Hati x Had a long day today full of excitement and I bough a lot of new uniform so I could look the part but I'll upload those pictures tomorrow if I can. Today, instead, I wanted to talk about two brands I have recently bought from. They both carry sterling silver jewellery, which is my particular taste but they also offer a great selection of costume jewellery as well as some apparel and home wears. Shop Dixi
Check them out for more at http://www.shopdixi.com/ Empty Casket Empty Casket was another Instagram find, referred to me by a friend who has a similar interest in 'witchy' silver jewellery. They also had amazing shots of their products which I find is always a plus for a business. These days a photograph can mean the difference in 100s of customers. I love long pendant necklaces in a leather thong or silver chain style. Necklaces and bracelets are the only things in my collection that aren't made of precious metals, excluding a few delicate pieces bought for me by my family. As a keen hippy and self-proclaimed new-ager, I have an interest in crystal healing and Wiccan symbolism, so Empty Casket caught my intererst more and more as I scrolled through their instagram, @emptycasket. Needless to say, I want all they have to offer and they, like Dixi, stock a range of styles in a multiple of metals. The necklace I bough wasn't precious so didn't cost me very much at £6. They have deals on regularly so I saved on shipping considerably and it came within 5 working days, again, much like Dixi. Their website was easy to navigate and a beautifully illustrated image header which they sent with the package. Their prices are reasonable for the market and for the materials and they offer payment through PayPal which is almost a must for me these days when shopping on my phone. The packaging also included a business card and a beautiful moon and stars covered bag which melted my designer heart and my Crescent Moon necklace is my go to for my daily drapery. Check out the website at http://www.emptycasket.co.uk/ After buying from both of these companies, I tried my hand at buying crystals for my individual spiritual needs and wrapping them myself and here is the result. I have a life goal of one day owning my own brand so this might be a starting point for me. What do you think? Would you buy a crystal necklace from me?
Hati x I started my new job as Supervisor at Warehouse today and I'm loving it as much as I thought I would. Obviously I'm not going to talk about work on this blog as I wouldn't want anything to come back to my workplace negatively (not that it would because I already know that this brand is a fantastic employer) but this is a place for me to talk about fashion and not so much about where I work. I only mention that I started here today because I wanted to talk about the amazing street-style trends that are being showcased by this brand. I have shopped this brand since I had money to burn and it seems to intuitively know what I am looking for in fashion so here are a few pieces that I will most definitely be buying as soon as payday rocks up on friday. I had a feeling in my bones that I wanted to see more tapered joggers in a range of materials and as usual, Warehouse has delivered with these two jogger styles. On the left, a tie-waist crepe jogger for a more dressy look and on the right, a denim jogger for a more casual co-ord. I love both of these and I would wear them as shown but also with a shirt and jumper combination for a more dressy look in my classic Hati, minimalist style. In the past 6 months or so there has been a real spate of v-neck, drop sleeved styles and this really excited my love of loose, soft drape with typical 20's influences. I've bough countless jumpers and tees in this style in a myriad of textures and materials but I'm a stickler for black and I need to bring a little light into my wardrobe for the S/S 2015 transition. I think I'm going to get both of these styles as well but I need to make sure I'm not just wearing the same outfit in different colours every day. Old habits die hard I suppose. This compact weave, high next long-sleeve on the left here looks beautifully crisp paired with joggers or a clean jean as well as a pleather pencil skirt or with a lace-trimmed dress underneath. I could find a lot of uses for this top. On the left here, with a similar high-neck, is a stretch striped swing dress with is perfectly casual with a pair of sneakers and looks polished, paired with black leggings and chelsea boots, layered with a leather jacket. It's edgy but will also add a little feminine touch to my masculine wardrobe. The thin stripe is also bang on trend for this S/S 2015. I also checked out a couple accessories that I've had my eye on since they hit the shops, although I wouldn't be able to wear the trilby in work. I am a staunch leopard print fanatic and so these comfy flats with keep me on my toes at work but add a little of my favourite print to my outfits. Tried the trilby on today and it's a dream on my larger-than-average head. The bracelets are perfect for the layering trend that seems to be holding sway at the moment and bring nostalgia of seaside holidays and surfing with them. All in all I'd say that I'm going to be one poor pickle come 2 days after payday but fashion is my passion (excuse the cheesy alliteration) so I'm willing to splash the cash. I also have my eyes on a pair of Nike Airmax trainers that just popped up in Office for a cool £94.99 but it's worth it! Take a look, they are stunning! I don't have a great photo set up at home but I'll endeavour to get some snaps up when I get this goodies next week!
For now, shop the latest items at http://www.warehouse.co.uk/ Hati x I decided about a week ago that I wanted to start a dedicated blog about fashion. After I'd graduated I went straight into a job working as a sales assistant, a job I have worked since I was 17. It's not a bad lot, considering the substantial paycheck, regular hours, pension and good holiday. Theres not a lot of fashion related work outside of London so I'm waiting it out until I can raise the funds to live in London whilst looking for a placement. So whilst I'm working this not-so-nine-five, I've been stalking Instagram and I have seen so many writing about their daily finds so I though this would wet my fashion whistle and keep me entertain until I start life in design. My job entails learning a lot about current trends and how to wear them and I am constantly buying and trying new uniform as well as trawling the shops of Bristol center in search of fashion finds. I will endeavour to show you these trends and finds and hopefully build a beautiful blog to look back on in the future. As a first effort, let me show you the goodies I picked up today. A word to the wise, these posts won't ALWAYS be fashion based, as I'm keen on cosmetics and beauty buys! I got these beautiful croc printed, chelsea boots with a killer heel a couple of days back from Primark. They caught my eye imediately and I'm always in the market for a pair of boots! They are so comfortable but at the same time, effortlessly chic. I paired them with a pair of tapered joggers and a draped black v-neck jumper. As well as being a big fashion fanatic, I am also very into looking after my health. I've had a nasty chest infection for 2 weeks now so after the doctors, I took a trip to Lush to pick up two Tea Tree Toner Tabs and an Avobath Bathbomb. Not only are these two amazing for your pores but they also help clear your airways which is perfect for me right now!
I also finally finished my favourite vegan hemp oil and peppermint lipbalm this week so I picked up a 'Crazy Rumours' Apple Spice lip balm from Holland and Barrett. It's vegan and cruelty free which is something I am seriously passionate about when it come to my beauty regime. Thats all for now, but I'll be back soon with more soon! Hati x |
